Fall Break Trip 2002

Thanksgiving here in the US was Nov 28th this year, so we had that whole week off school. I decided this would be the perfect time of year and opportunity to make a trip to sunny, warm Southern California. I had promised everyone down there that I would make a visit, now was my turn to live up to that promise.

I flew into LA on Friday night. Gautam picked me up at LAX and on the way home we stopped at one of my favorite burger joints, In and Out ...

On the second day, we went to West LA to visit Al and Jess. After some good food and drinks at the Cheesecake Factory, it was back to Al's for more drinks and a little fooling around.

It wasn't until Sunday that I was able to get out to the mountains. G-man took me for a hike at the Pacific Palisades in Santa Monica ... gorgeous. Ofcourse the weather is almost always perfect because it's SoCal.

Even the drive out to the trails was amazing. On top of the beautiful scenery on the seaside route, there seemed to be a Mini Cooper convention somewhere ... we caught about 15 of them at this gas station ...

I spent the next couple days with Marie and family. It was great to see them all again, I even met a few new members of the Pryor clan including 1-yr old Abigail. As usual, Amelia came over to hang out both days I was there.

Ofcourse the trip wouldn't be complete without having Bobby preach to me about something. This time he picked getting me to stay and finish my PhD. We'll see if it was worth the effort. Either way, hanging out with him is always a treat because he lets us kids drive his cool cars ...

And just like that, 6 days in paradise come to end. Thousand Oaks is probably one of the most beautiful places to live in the world! It's almost so beautiful that I'd rather not live there and only come down for annual visits so that I never take it for granted. I'll leave you a sunset with Wildwood Park in the distance ... bye for now!
